Tropical Auto Sales

I initially wrote a review on this dealership and within minutes of posting it the manager Tommy called my phone wanting to rectify the situation. He gave me his word he would fix everything if i was willing to take the post down, trying to be fair about it i told him sure i will take it down and i did. Unfortunately for me Tommy did not really care much about honoring his words, therefore i am reposting my original review. Below is my original review. - Came here on monday 04/24/2023 on my bday nonetheless long story short i bought the car. A 2013 ford explorer. Didnt get to see the car till today, thursday 04/27/23. I live about an hour and some change from this dealership. The first day they told me its in da shop getting worked on and will be ready tomorrow. I come in the next day just to be told its still not ready. Overall not a good experience at all, the most insulting part about this whole ordeal was that when i FINALLY! got to see the vehicle i purchased they didnt bother to clean it, not even a little bit and there was ants in the back seat which i pointed out to a gentleman named marvin who was giving me the keys and marvin simply looked and said nothing and continued peeling the sales paper off the back window. Also a bee was hanging out in the front which probably would not have happened had they atleast wiped down the dashboard at the very least. Not wanting to wait any more days and take that long drive i just took the car and as i write this im bombing it for ants and any other insects that may be lingering.

Please be very careful when dealing with this car dealership. I had an extremely disappointing experience. To start off, the vehicle I purchased was not properly inspected. After purchasing, I took the vehicle to the recommend mechanic provided by the warranty they offer. During the inspection multiple issues discovered. Black brake fluid, bad battery, old oil, both cabin and engine filters in terrible condition, all tires did not match. It truly upset me since the car was labeled as a “well taken care of”. Furthermore, 3 weeks into the car…. The engine completely exploded. I reached back out to the dealership to let them now and that’s when I discovered they did not include gap insurance like I requested. Worst part is, they gave me paperwork for it but forgot to include it at the end. The only response I got was….”we don’t know what happened.” In the end, this is the worst experience I’ve ever been through. I had to return three times to redo paperwork, and the compensation offered was a mere $10.

We have had the opportunity to do business with Tropical Auto Sales on two separate occasions. On both occasions this dealership went above and beyond meeting all of our expectations. We sold both of our cars (Mercedes E350 and Jaguar F Pace). In each transaction, Tropical Auto Sales offered a better price than any other dealership in the tri-county area. We found this company to be extremely fair in negotiations, friendly, and very easy to work with. They are very honest and credible, all the paperwork was completed without error and a check was issued the same day as the transaction. If you’re selling your vehicle, Tropical Auto Sales is definitely the go to place for the best no drama experience. Our Sales representative was Steven, we highly recommend reaching out to him for the best experience!

The old tropical was great. I got my first car from there and never had any issues. Since new ownership and since they no longer have their own mechanics this company has lemons! Service is trash! The same day I got my car the car was breaking down and they sent me to their “ mechanic “ and literally there were two other people there who had just gotten their car also ! After having my car for 2 months it was considered a lemon! Car kept cutting off, just terrible.. I went to drive time and got a new car.. haven’t had one issue yet.. I willll neverrrre recommend this place. They are all about money. The quality sucks and they play dumb like they don’t know what’s going on. They fix the cars up well enough that the test drive it seems fine , and surprise after u drive it for a few hours the real problems arrive

Don’t trust the dealership. I had listed my 2017 bmw 530i wrapped in matte green for sale on marketplace, which these guys reached out to me about. They threw out a number (18k) which was about 4,000 under my asking price, which isn’t as big of a deal. They then told me to come in and show it to them, I’m a busy guy plus I live in Fort Lauderdale, so it took me some time to come in. When I had finally gotten time to come into the dealership they test drove my car and then tried negotiating afterward. The salesman tried pulling up Kelly blue book and jd power prices on me, which were way below what you’d buy this car at. Not just that but when he brought his boss in, his boss started talking about replacing things on the car, unwrapping the car (granted they knew it was wrapped when they reached out to me) and finding anyway to get me to sell the car at 14,000. That’s insane. Scummy. Don’t let these guys waste your time, if you’re selling, buying, or leasing. Do your research.

UPDATE So I did receive the $750 after I called the gap insurance company and was told that the dealership (Tropical Auto Sales) is suppose to refund me the money back. So from the start I was lied to because they told me the refund would come from the gap insurance company and it will take 30 days to receive the refund check. As far as the $500 that was promised, I was told that I could not get that refund because the owner claims he did not get all the money back from the purchase of the car. Which is another lie. They resold the car for $5,988 (original price was around $3988) plus dealer fees and other fees they tacked on. So not only did they jack up the price on the car but they sold it and made their money back. They only financed $4,506.95 because of course I pout down $3000. Now the owner has gone back on his word for $500.This dealership is a big scam and they do shady business. I guess they thought that I wasn't smart enough to find all this information out about them. Another thing, they keep saying that they had to buy back the car from the finance company which is completely untrue. I spoke with the finance company and they assured me that it was up to the dealership to either keep the car or give it back to me. They did not have to buy it back and there wasn't a repossession order for the car either. I asked for proof about the repossession and no one could give me that. This experience has been the worst experience ever in buying a car. I will take legal action on this because first of all you guys did an illegal deal. Good luck to your business. If I could give no stars I would. I put down $3000 on a 2008 Jeep grand cherokee(which now they have listed for almost $6000 but before had it listed for about $3900). So first of the fees they attached to this car was ridiculous. It brought the car to about $8000. No problem I agreed to it because I needed a car that bad. So now fast forward to November. (This happens at the end of August) the finance company took the contract back from them. Now here comes Tommy Cohen (The rudest and most disrespectful human being) claiming because I didn’t make the first payment well I have the proof that I did make the first payment and still fighting to get my money back. So now he wants me to bring back the car which ok I will but I need my refund of my down payment back. Well after going back and forth with them took The car back and was promised my refund so I can go get another car. First they take the car to the back as if I was going to run away with it. The refund they claimed to give me was $500 out of $3000. Man I was so furious and still is. Then the owner says once he sells the car again then he will give me another $500 as a good faith. I just feel so taken advantage of and this is definitely a shady dealership. I did my own investigation and found out a lot of things about this dealership. I have a lawyer involved and will get some answers this. They do not have a good track record and they need to get rid of Tommy. I will go to all news stations and anybody else I have to go to expose them. I have a lot more but will not give them any more information about what I have in them. Also here’s the kicker the car wasn’t even registered in my name. How shady is that? Please do not deal with this company.
